The Alexander Technique
Central
to the teaching of the Alexander Technique is an effective
use of the self and a complete re-education of posture to
enhance mental and physical vitality.
Since
1894 this approach has helped people to use their bodies better
than they otherwise could.
The Technique’s success is based on its ability to identify
and redress habitual misuse of the body. (Such habits feel
normal to us and can directly cause back pain, neck and shoulder
tension, breathing disorders, stress related illnesses and
general fatigue.)
Furthermore,
the Alexander Technique has been recognised by the medical
profession for over a century, as an effective holistic approach
to improve personal health.
In
2004 the Alexander Technique celebrated 100 years in the UK.
The
Alexander Technique is primarily educational in nature and
anyone can benefit from it, including those without an ailment
who just wish to optimise their well being.
The
Technique has various applications from office work to performing
on stage, dealing with pregnancy and pain, to improvement
in sport.
